Debbie Scheer Speaks, In-Person or Virtually

It’s 2020  and who would have predicted that the entire world would be in the throes of a devastating pandemic? I know I certainly didn’t have that on my bingo card.

But here we are trying to figure out how to swivel to a new way of being, a new way of communicating with audiences, a new way of connecting. Change can be scary but in today’s world, it is absolutely imperative that we embrace virtual events.

As an emcee, humorist, auctioneer, and speaker I have partnered with organizations, individuals, and groups, to help them successfully transition to the virtual platform. Whether you are needing to figure out how to hold your annual fundraising event, host the three-day conference that was scheduled to be in person, want to connect your audience to your organization’s message, whatever the reason is, you CAN do it all virtually.

The key though is to remember that connection, while so important during an in-person event, becomes even more critical during a virtual event. Why? Well for starters as humans our attention span is like a weak internet connection, on for a few off for a few, and so on. So having someone who knows how to engage your audience regardless of the event, is absolutely essential to the success of your virtual event.

Reach out, let’s connect, and talk about how as a professional emcee, an auctioneer, and as a speaker/humorist, I can help you create a successful virtual event.

I look forward to connecting with you.

WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING ABOUT THEIR EXPERIENCE WITH DEBBIE

I have worked in the nonprofit and business sector for over 15 years, so I have attended a whole lot of events over the years. Debbie Scheer is truly one of the most gifted auctioneers and emcees I have ever seen. She has a way of making a crowd feel instantly at ease and usually has them laughing within seconds. She can read the room and sets the pace so that even the most jam-packed agenda (which we know some organizations like to do), feels like a fun adventure, rather than a painful, neverending lecture.

I have seen her work comedy shows, live online video interviews, and fundraisers and she has the incredible ability to speak to every type of audience and make them feel included. There are few people as versatile and well-liked by the widest range of people, from every possible background. I cannot recommend her highly enough for your events.

Having seen Deb in action as an auctioneer at several charity events as well as having caught one of her comedy shows, I was thrilled when she agreed to be the moderator for a virtual panel I was helping put together for the HR team at the City and County of Denver.  Our panel was part of our Culture Club, which strives to foster conversations and growth in the areas of inclusion and acceptance, and was a celebration of October’s LGBTQ+ History month. Our steering committee had a lot of ideas, opinions and topics that were near and dear to our hearts, and from the very beginning Deb met us where we were – asking thought-provoking questions, sharing her own experiences, offering suggestions and helping us fine tune our vision. She helped us craft the topics and questions for our panel, and was also gracious enough to help us find our third panelist!  She met with our panel in advance, helping them to become more at ease with our HR community and our topics. She truly guided us through the process, which was something our committee of newbies to organizing such an event greatly appreciated.  When the day of the event arrived she was the first one to log into the online platform, greeting our committee and panelists as they logged in and providing a calming presence.  Her comfort with the online platform kept the discussion moving smoothly. She was skilled at encouraging panelists to share their stories as well as in getting questions from our audience (over 80 HR professionals.)   She kept us on schedule, was extremely professional as well as warm and engaging and was instrumental to the success of the event.  Since the panel, our Culture Club committee has received numerous compliments from our leadership team and peers.  I highly recommend Deb for any of your public speaking and facilitation needs.

I was approached by a fan of Debbie’s, she had just been to one of her comedy shows and had a ball.  She knew that Debbie also was an auctioneer and suggested we check her out for our annual Spring Fling fundraiser.  Having chaired the event for the prior two years, both successful in their own right, bringing in our goal numbers, I was curious and apprehensive to learn more about Debbie.  From the first email to the night of our event,  I have never been more impressed with an Auctioneer.  Debbie came to tour our school, just to understand the culture and vibe of our community.  She scheduled several meetings with me to understand our goals, logistics, how our auctions have done in the past and things that she could do that were different from anything we had tried before.  Our past auctioneers literally just showed up and talked fast, this was new territory for me!  With Debbie’s help, enthusiasm, and sincere passion to help raise funds for my children’s school, we not only met our goal of $50,000 but exceeded it by $15,000!  Tears of joy were spread throughout and we cannot thank Debie or recommend her enough.  She truly brought her A game to the table and worked hard to support our efforts. –

“With precise attention to detail, and effortless wit, Debbie Scheer is a joy to work with! Having had the fortunate opportunity to assist Debbie with producing a variety show at Denver PRIDE for the past five years, she is a skilled artist, who has clear focus, and knows how to keep her audience entertained.

One of the many qualities which makes Debbie so relatable is her genuine approachability, and realness. Unlike other emcees who become different once the mic is in hand, Debbie remains true to herself. She finds appropriate humor in situations, and delivers a story you can’t help but enjoy.

Her comedic skill does not rely on salty words, or crude topics to get a laugh. She speaks from the heart, remains professional, and is an incredibly engaging host.

When planning an event that may need a seasoned emcee, a fun auctioneer, a great party host, or just an all-around enjoyable personality, I would definitely recommend, and include Debbie Scheer.”

Debbie is a one-of-a-kind speaker who shows up with the most impressive combination of heart and humor as Host for a day. She led a panel discussion at this year’s Sheer Impact Conference and added just the right amount of personal commentary while facilitating a really powerful and meaningful discussion among our panelists. I would highly recommend Debbie for any organization that wants an engaging, knowledgeable speaker, emcee or auctioneer to build momentum and raise money.

Hi Debbie,

I just want to say how nice it was to meet you and to say a huge thank you for a job WELL done!  You are an excellent auctioneer and your ability to engage and energize the audience was great to see.  The money raised is testament to your abilities, and I love the interplay between you and Steve!  I so appreciate how you make sure to connect the importance of giving to our mission as you are on stage.  It IS, after all, a fundraising event, and you do a wonderful job of messaging that throughout the evening.

Again, thank you!

“Debbie opened our women’s health conference with humor and compassion, reflecting back the humanity of each and every person sitting in the room. Debbie set a tone of humility, honesty, and love that carried us all through the following days. She’s unique in her ability to bring people together with laughter in even the most sensitive subjects. She’s a captivating speaker who brings energy and joy to every room she enters.”

Debbie was an amazing speaker. She filled our roomful of professional women with laughter and joy. Her presentation had the perfect ratio of ‘let’s get real’ and ‘funny.’ I can’t recommend her enough.

I discovered Debbie Scheer at my first Dames event here in Denver. At the time, my husband and I were navigating all the B$ that goes along with a brain injury and the predatory treatment by his employer to force him to quit his career.

I was at the lowest points in my life, depressed and trying to take my seasonal business full time to save my family economically.

Anyway, I attended this event in hope to meet potential new clients and get away from the craze of home for a couple of hours. Debbie came on the stage and began to perform, and suddenly I realized I was laughing, hysterically laughing to the point of tears in my eyes.

I realized listening to Debbie Scheer I had not actually laughed or even thought something was funny in over 3 years. Debbie Scheer is more than just a comedian, she truly is a humorist.

Thank you for making me laugh again Debbie!

Debbie Scheer is one of the most amazing humans I know- a personal hero of mine. I’ve known of Debbie for a few years and have truly admired her work in public speaking and community advocacy. You know that feeling of nervousness and awe that you get when you finally meet someone you admire? That’s the way I felt when I finally had the opportunity to meet Debbie in person. Speaking with Debbie makes you feel like you’ve been lifelong friends. It has been a great privilege for me to work with Debbie in the world of podcasting in bringing Conversations, Connections, Community to life.

It’s an absolute joy to experience Debbie’s talents and energy in person; Debbie can engage and hold the attention of a massive room full of people with her unique charm and humor. Debbie is equally as enjoyable to watch virtually! These days, the mention of “virtual events” often makes folks cringe. Many of us have become burned out on anything virtual in both our professional and personal life. Debbie overcomes this challenge and knows exactly how to engage with an audience to make them feel welcome and part of a more personalized and intimate experience, making ‘virtual’ a much more enjoyable concept.

Through her engaging humor, personal connection and highly professional work ethic, Debbie Scheer is a clear choice for your next emcee, moderator, humorist, or auctioneer role.
